Babaji please share your views on the use of drugs to free the mind

Oh Babaji, I hear it all the time, people saying using psychotropic plants to help break through any mental limitations. The same with Marijuana. Its Shiva's blessing so they say. A way to communicate with Shiva. Please Babaji share your views with us on this matter. Of what purpose is to get the mind into such alter states. People believes it helps their spirit to be free? How so? The Atman is not affected by such things and is in a constant-never-changing state of Ananda. Only the Mind is affected my intuition tells me, but I do not know. Please help
